XLOAD(1) USER COMMANDS XLOAD(1) NAME xload - load average display for X SYNOPSIS xload [-_t_o_o_l_k_i_t_o_p_t_i_o_n ...] [-scale _i_n_t_e_g_e_r] [-update _s_e_c_o_n_d_s] [-hl _c_o_l_o_r] [-highlight _c_o_l_o_r] [-jumpscroll _p_i_x_e_l_s] [-label _s_t_r_i_n_g] [-nolabel] DESCRIPTION The _x_l_o_a_d program displays a periodically updating histogram of the system load average. OPTIONS _X_l_o_a_d accepts all of the standard X Toolkit command line options (see _X(_1)). The order of the options in unimpor- tant. _x_l_o_a_d _a_l_s_o _a_c_c_e_p_t_s _t_h_e _f_o_l_l_o_w_i_n_g _a_d_d_i_t_i_o_n_a_l _o_p_t_i_o_n_s: -hl _c_o_l_o_r or -highlight _c_o_l_o_r This option specifies the color of the scale lines. -jumpscroll FPnumber of pixels The number of pixels to shift the graph to the left when the graph reaches the right edge of the window. The default value is 1/2 the width of the current window. Smooth scrolling can be achieved by setting it to 1. -label _s_t_r_i_n_g The string to put into the label above the load average. -nolabel If this command line option is specified then no label will be displayed above the load graph. -scale _i_n_t_e_g_e_r This option specifies the minimum number of tick marks in the histogram, where one division represents one load average point. If the load goes above this number, _x_l_o_a_d will create more divisions, but it will never use fewer than this number. The default is 1. -update _s_e_c_o_n_d_s This option specifies the frequency in seconds at which _x_l_o_a_d updates its display. The minimum amount of time allowed between updates is 1 second (the default is 5 seconds). RESOURCES In addition to the resources available to each of the widg- ets used by _x_l_o_a_d there is one resource defined by the X Version 11 Last change: Release 4 1 XLOAD(1) USER COMMANDS XLOAD(1) application itself. showLabel (class Boolean) If False then no label will be displayed. WIDGETS In order to specify resources, it is useful to know the hierarchy of the widgets which compose _x_l_o_a_d. In the nota- tion below, indentation indicates hierarchical structure. The widget class name is given first, followed by the widget instance name. XLoad xload Paned paned Label label StripChart load ENVIRONMENT DISPLAY to get the default host and display number. XENVIRONMENT to get the name of a resource file that overrides the global resources stored in the RESOURCE_MANAGER property. FILES /usr/lib/X11/app-defaults/XLoad - specifies required resources SEE ALSO X(1), xrdb(1), mem(4), Athena StripChart Widget. BUGS This program requires the ability to open and read the spe- cial system file /_d_e_v/_k_m_e_m. Sites that do not allow general access to this file should make _x_l_o_a_d belong to the same group as /_d_e_v/_k_m_e_m and turn on the _s_e_t _g_r_o_u_p _i_d permission flag. Reading /dev/kmem is inherently non-portable. Therefore, the routine used to read it (get_load.c) must be ported to each new operating system.
