SAMBA for VMS is a port of Andrew Tridgell's SAMBA package. The current port is based on Samba V1.9.17p4.

The problem was not really solved, we still don't know, why it
happened. The open file code was reverted to that of 1.9.16p2. Now a
file won't be opened R/W if the client request a read. Also the file
modification date is no longer changed on a read. The price was to completely
disable the samba share modes which did not work correctly anyway because
of the missing fcntl() system call. The samba team agrees that opening a
file R/W regardless of the access mode isn't a good idea and that this
could be changed in a furture release (hopefully).
This VMS port is beta test. It currently runs on:
Normally you will want to download the binary distribution. You don't need a compiler then. Alternatively get the source.
