MailGuard TrustedPath Neighbourhood Watch for E-mail
Relying totally on the suppliers of anti-virus software to protect your systems is a lot like saying that fighting crime should be
left just to the Police. It's time to take control of the e-mail streets and to stop viruses, worms and cyberwoozles from abusing your e-mail.
With MailGuard TrustedPath you can stop the replication of a virus, the progress of a worm and the
siphoning of a data by a cyberwoozle. It's the e-mail equivalent to Neighbourhood Watch - so protect yourself and be a good neighbour as well.
With Melissa, PrettyPark, ExploreZip and now ICQGreeting the list and variety of e-mail menaces is growing rapidly. Anti-virus software suppliers are running to keep up with retrospective upgrades and
patches. Unfortunately many businesses believe that use of an anti-virus software package adequately defends against such e-mail borne threats. However, when a major anti-virus company states that tens
of thousands of its corporate customers were affected by the ExploreZip worm, including 60% of its top 300 corporate customers, it becomes clear that greater protection is needed.

What is MailGuard TrustedPath? MailGuard TrustedPath allows a user to sanction the release of all e-mail before it leaves the desktop,
thus preventing the generation of "hidden" e-mail by malicious code. You can choose whether to reject a suspicious e-mail or to review the entire message before allowing it to be sent. The configuration of
MailGuard TrustedPath allows you to choose whether to monitor all outgoing e-mail or just messages that do not originate from your normal e-mail client.
MailGuard TrustedPath is a desktop plug-in for the MS Windows® MAPI messaging architecture, operating with e-mail clients such as MS Outlook and MS Exchange and mail-enabled applications
such as those comprising the MS Office suite.
MailGuard TrustedPath can be used on Windows 95, 98 and NT 4.
Part of the MailGuard family MailGuard TrustedPath is one of the MailGuard Enabler desktop components. MailGuard Enabler is a
set of desktop plug-ins that complement the MailGuard messaging firewall by adding features such as consistent sensitivity labelling to standard e-mail clients. This approach enhances an overall security
policy by proving a desktop contribution to boundary security enforcement.
